But satisfaction brought it back....~

The white and black she-cat trudged through the dead remnants of burned grass and trees - the soot on her paws had dulled their once bright pink pads. She had grown up on the journey to making the four Clans she now helped lead and guide. She had been through heartbreaks, the gift of life, the struggle of loss, the pain of teeth and claws. It was all so questionable and curious as to why life played these games on cats like her.
Her aqua-coloured eyes flickered in the shaded meadow as she approached the neutral territory the Half-Dead Tree stood as. Out of everything she had seen on her territory, this was her mind-boggling point, her thinking place. Loners came around from time to time but no cat would dare own such a wondrous sight StarClan had blessed them with. It was so peculiar, how this tree still stood. On the SmokeClan side it was burned and charred and dead, but on the HollowClan side it was lush and green and full. How could something as simple as a tree be in both the world of the living and not?
Her thoughts here were always open and rushing about - it must have been a lucky spot because all of her decisions made here were good, just and true with no negative repercussions. She wondered how it would last.
Or would her luck soon run dry as some of the streams in her territory have?
This wouldn't occur to her at the moment of course as she sat near the base of the tree's dead trunk, exhaling a cold breath as her tail wrapped around her paws. The small rustles of foliage made her ears swivel but she is deep in thought so she at first thinks nothing of it.
